De Beers Centenary Art Gallery at the University of Fort Hare

The De Beers Centenary Collection is housed at the University of Fort Hare, the oldest black university in the country, founded in 1916. The De Beers Centenary Gallery houses a substantial collection of black South African art acquired over an extended period. It includes the works of icons such as George Pemba and Gerald Sekoto and houses a collection of traditional African art including beadwork, utilitarian objects, costumes and a variety of other artefacts.
