Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality and Sports Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA)

The CATHSSETA is the Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) responsible for promoting skills development within the arts, culture and heritage sector, operating within the legal framework of the Skills Development Act (No 97 of 1998).

The SETA is tasked with ensuring that the supply of skills in the sector matches changes in demand and keeps pace with shifts in the nature of work, technology and so on. The SETA does does this through:
researching current and future skills needs within the sector
promoting workplace skills planning among employers in the sector
assisting organisations in accessing appropriate training for their employees
training the unemployed in order to access work in the sector

Training interventions supported by the SETA should be to agreed standards, within a national framework wherever possible. All training, wherever it is provided, should be subject to quality control and where appropriate be compared to the best international standards.
